The ‘Staveley Works’ site encompasses several old industrial area and is alongside the Chesterfield Canal between Staveley, Hollingwood and Barrow Hill.

The image above is from the masterplan with our annotation on top. The spine road is planned to have a dedicated cycle route alongside which will aid commuter cyclists leaving the existing Trans Pennine Trail as a leisure route.

The planned new school being at one end of the development and adjacent to the canal is ideally placed to be designed so children can safely cycle to school.

Although not an easy solution we hope that Barrow Hill can be connected to the cycle network too.

The spine road forms part of the proposed ‘Staveley Regeneration Route’ which the new road from the Sainsburys roundabout is also part of. This route should have a cycle route built all the way alongside but we are very concerned about its impact on the quiet canal corridor.
