Chesterfield Cycle Campaign promotes cycle use in Chesterfield for both leisure and utility journeys.  By campaigning for a comprehensive network, we aim to improve conditions for cyclists so that cycling becomes a safer and more attractive option than car travel for local journeys.

Small Improvements

The cycle access to the new Queen's Park Sports Centre is taking shape. We are told that the railings will be removed to create a 3m wide path all the way to the raised table across Boythorpe Avenue.

The station link is proceeding well and recently some test piling has taken place next to Hollis Lane ready for the bridge piles to go in later in the project. The path shown curving down to the slip road is for access only, not part of the final route!

Tesco recently built a path off the A61 cycle path to allow easy access to their store.

Chesterfield Cycle Map

Following an application to Chesterfield Borough Council the Campaign has been awarded a grant to help publish a revised and updated cycle map. We have commisioned Sustrans to create and publish 5000 copies which will distributed free of charge.

A small steering group has been formed to coordinate with Sustrans but we need others to help. In particular we need to check cycle parking provision at public buildings, check routes that we are going to put on the map plus other details. The Campaign meetings in January and February 2016 will be mainly devoted to map production.

If you would like to help produce the new map contact the secretary -
